OPENPTO / PARTNERSHIP
Professional cooperation starts with knowing who is responsible.
Peter Lin
Cooperation contact lead · OpenPTO
Cooperation begins with a direct conversation. Introduce your firm, typical clients and target markets. Peter will discuss how to introduce enquiries, how to communicate with clients, and how updates and partner earnings are reviewed. The entities and professionals responsible for a particular matter are identified before engagement.
Receive the introduction. Make the work clear.
Understand the need. Begin with the client’s business question, then organise the target jurisdictions, required work and information. Partners do not need to complete the professional assessment first.
Explain the scope. Set out the work, responsibilities and fees before the client decides to engage. If additional work arises, confirm its scope separately.
Coordinate execution. Progress the agreed matters and explain who needs to make the next decision or provide further information.
Respect the relationship. Give the partner appropriate updates within the client’s permission and the cooperation arrangement. A referral does not automatically open the complete client file.
You do not need to cover every specialist need on your own.
Accountants, tax advisers and business-service partners understand their clients’ changing businesses. They often see the needs arising from international brand expansion, company changes or product innovation early. Clear responsibilities allow you to connect these questions with a specialist team while maintaining your usual client communication.

No registration is needed. Tell us about the clients you serve and the IP questions you encounter most often.
